We made a visit to The North Star State to consult with a prosthetist here who has experience with custom prosthetics for certain posterior body parts. So, we're camped out for a while to see what happens after our appointments with him this week.
In the meantime, we checked out some local sites. We've been here before and saw downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul, so this time we stayed mostly on the outskirts. We saw a river town called Stillwater, and spent time in Rochester (where the famous Mayo Clinic is located), and Austin. Austin has perhaps the coolest museum in the world, the SPAM Museum. It's located in the town where Hormel is located. It's good to see that they have a healthy sense of humor about their most famous product. They have always had strong and unique marketing campaigns for their products and this is no exception.
We also visited another Portuguese Water Dog breeder. There are some photos in the Minnesota album, and also this video showing a few of the dogs frolicking. Note the "flag" on the tail, a hallmark of the breed. It was a fun visit, and we learned a lot more about the dogs.
Finally, we found some time for some traditional Minnesota pastimes such as fishing, talking about fishing, shopping for fishing gear, and complaining about the upcoming winter cold weather.
Here is the Minnesota photo album.
