After New Jersey, we headed up north. Vermont, in particular, has been delightful. The towns are just too cute, the people are very friendly, and there is a strong sense of community and concern for the environment here.

This memorial to Connecticut 9/11 victims is oriented so that it faces the direction where the smoke from the twin towers was visible.
These bushes or trees are all over the place in Vermont, but we haven't been able to identify what they are. Do any of you know what they are?
This field is in a National Wildlife Refuge near Swanton, VT. There were many birds around, only a few of which were slow enough for us to identify.
The downtown area of Burlington has a nice outdoor mall, with mostly local shops and restaurants.
No visit to Vermont would be complete without a stop at Ben and Jerry's factory. They had an amusing tour, free samples, and of course a full gift shop and scoop shop. It was very well done.
